Preparing for take-off

After almost five years living and working in Europe, we are starting a new adventure in Silicon Valley!  Ryan will join a start-up called Health IQ, and while I search for the next career step I'll be using some of my free time to blog about our experience and our futuristic encounters.

It is currently T minus 3 days until we fly from Amsterdam to San Francisco.  The movers came this week to collect all of our belongings, so now all we need to do is pack for the flight and take off on Monday!

This time we'll also be returning with one additional family member:  Coco:

This will be Coco's first time travelling in the cabin with us, and we are quite anxious about how she will deal with the 12 hour flight plus additional travel time between airports.  Given she will probably need to use the bathroom at some point during this ordeal, I've been doing some research on how to best prepare for the inevitable.

Apparently cat diapers are a thing...

So, doing what any concerned cat-owner would do, I went to the local Albert Heijn grocery store and bought my first pack of baby diapers.  For my cat.  I cut a hole in the back for her tail, and voila!

What seemed like a reasonable idea turned out to be an impossible task.  Putting Coco in a diaper was a challenge too difficult for Ryan and I together, so we instead went with "Plan B":

I present to you the diaper pet carrier!

Stay tuned for more updates...
